Polycarbonate

DESCRIPTION

Polycarbonate (PC) belongs to the thermoplastic group. The name is due to the plastic being formed from polymers presenting functional groups united by carbonate groups in a long molecular chain.

Within this material we must highlight two types: Cellular and Compact.

FEATURES

  • High impact strength
  • Operating temperature range: -100 °C to +135 °C
  • Limited combustibility.
  • Resistance to UV rays.
  • Difficult molding.

APPLICATIONS

Polycarbonate is becoming very common in households and in industries and architecture due to its three main qualities: high impact and temperature strength (125°C), as well as transparency.

Depending on the type of polycarbonate, applications are varied: from covers for greenhouses to bullet-proof glass.
